We review correspondence you received from IRS or State Tax Departments to determine the scope of the Tax Problem or Tax Issue as expressed in the letters.
The most common form of audit is Correspondence Audit or Audit Letters in which the IRS (or State) proposes adjustments to your previously filed returns. For most taxpayers the Audit Letters do not involve serious Tax Problems or Tax Issues but usually small errors or omissions. Often such letters may just ask for documentation to support the deductions or credits.
Taxpayers have limited time to respond to such letters, usually 30 days. It is important to reply timely, and at the same time to provide proper information to the taxing authority. Ignoring those letters is the worst approach to follow.
After a careful review of the received audit letters, AAS Tax Services will propose the most appropriate course of action, collect and put together the explanatory data, and write replies to be mailed to the taxing authorities. We will be involved into the dealing with the IRS or State Tax Departments until the case is resolved and closed.
All returns are prepared in accordance with the applicable Federal and State tax laws and regulations.
